Winner: Dragon Quest VIII
Square Enix takes the PS2 award home again, with Dragon Quest VIII as this year's PS2 RPG of the year. Fans of this series and newcomers alike had been anticipating this game all year leading up to its November release, and it truly delivered on all the hype. Delivering richly detailed graphics combined with a classic DQ gameplay feeling, Dragon Quest VIII is a winner.

Runners up: Radiata Stories
and Romancing SaGa (tie)

The votes tied for Radiata Stories and Romancing SaGa in this category, so we decided to just have them share the victory. What sucks about this is that I have to now pay the print shop to make 177 "PS2 Runner up, 2005" certificates to mail to each of Radiata's playable characters. For crying out loud, I wish this game didn't win. Oh well. That's what happens when you've got an all-around stellar title, I suppose.
