Winner: Mass Effect (X360)
RPG Land's 2007 Game of the Year is Mass Effect, which shouldn't surprise anyone who played it. It's incredibly addictive third-person-meets-first-person shooter meets RPG battle system and expansive universe, coupled with allowing players a lot of control in directing the dialogue, among other features, earned it this award.
Runner up: Odin Sphere (PS2)
Like any year, votes were close, and this game almost took top honors. And similar to many winners before it, nearly everything went right for Odin Sphere. It had a genuinely high level of difficulty, an incredible, dark story, and a unique take on action-RPG gameplay that felt so, so right.
Honorable mention: Persona 3 (PS2)
Hate to say it again, but dang, was this one close. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 showcases unique, highly addicting gameplay with some of the best presentation in RPG history. There's so much going on in this game, but not so much that it overwhelms the player; instead, it feels welcomely different from most other RPGs, in a great way.
