The release of Kingdom Hearts II saw the introductions of new characters into the series, as new faces from yet more Disney movies as well as an upped number of Final Fantasy cameos are in place for this sequel. Among these new faces is a man from Final Fantasy VI, one Setzer Gabbianni. As you might recall, the man has changed from looking like this to something far more "Nomura," like this.

We sat down with Setzer himself, as well as some of his buddies from the cast of Final Fantasy VI to get their thoughts on this career change.

So guys, thanks to all for being here. We really appreciate it. I guess we may as well start by tossing a question to the man himself: hey Setzer, what was the dealbreaker here? How much negotiating did it take for Square to get you into this game?

Setzer, formerly of FFVI, now KH2 sellout

It's not Square anymore; the company's name is Square Enix.

Hahahaha

Setzer

...

RPGLand.com

Oh crap, you were serious? Apologies. *Ahem* Anyway, did they like, offer you bigger airship or what?

Setzer

Well ah...you all know how I love to gamble. Combine the presence of drinking buddies, rum, Testsuya Nomura, and a deck of cards, and you'll end up making some outrageous bets that will get you dressed up and looking stupid in no time. Nomura takes no prisoners; once he's won, you HAVE to gel your hair up the way he says and wear whatever he tells you to. It's his way of always letting you know he owned you.

Celes, a question for you now, how do you feel about all this? I know you and Locke kinda have a thing going, but Setzer only joined up with you guys in the first place because of a liking for you, so....

Celes

I must admit I feel slightly guilty. Even though Setzer acted on his own in pursuing me, I can't help but feel somewhat responsible for this ridiculous amount of hotness I have and its power over people.

It was, in fact, that same hotness that lured Testsuya Nomura onto the airship where Setzer made that stupid bet with him in the first place. After all, I am a character whose design is quality which Nomura's lack of talent will never be able to match. Gosh, I feel so awful. *Begins to sob* Why am I so ridiculously hot? ;_;

Sabin: Why do you think, after nabbing Setzer, that Square didn't go after other FFVI characters, such as one of the most popular ones, you?

Sabin

For one thing, even with all his many cases of gel and spray, there's no way my hair can get as high-spiked as Nomura would have liked.

And if I may say so, I personally don't need a new character designer; what I need is a new translator. My favorite attack ended up being called the "Bum Rush," for crying out loud! It couldn't be anything with a cool name like, "Last Stand," "Omnislash," "Dragon Kick," or anything that sounds like it might actually kick the crap out of you. It had to be "Bum Rush." Who does that?

How about you, Locke? As a thief, I'm betting there's some sweet stuff in Kingdom Hearts II that you're jealous of not being chosen to experience, eh?

Locke

*Shrugs*
Not really, no. I'm not interested.

RPGLand.com

You wouldn't even like a chance to gank the Keysword?

Locke

Keyblade.

RPGLand.com

Well you sure seem to know an awful lot about it for someone who's "not interested."

Locke

Well you sure seem to be a pretty big tool for someone who "really appreciates" us being here doing your stupid interview.

RPGLand.com

Point taken. Moving on.

General question, now that Setzer's left the cast, what do you all do for an airship? Do you still have the Falcon or what?

Edgar

Well, you know, we DID for a while, till I decided to put Strago at the wheel while I took a break. No one freaking TOLD me the old man was DEAD. I thought he was just socially unresponsive and had typical mobility issues, but could surely steer the ship. I only realized I was wrong seconds before crashing the airpship into Kefka's tower.

Mog: How is Umaro coping with this? I know he loved watching the airship engine. Now that it and Setzer are gone, what's up?

Mog

Kupo!

RPGLand.com

You've got to be kidding. Why?

Mog

Kupo! Kupo! Kupopo!

RPGLand.com

That's pretty twisted. I mean, wow. I don't know if I'll even eat anything today after hearing that.

Mog

Kupo! Kupopo!

RPGLand.com

Whoa, whooooa, now. Let's not get into that here. I don't want to start debate about such matters on a video game website. That is clearly not a topic for this site or this occasion. You need to relax, and if I do say so, watch your mouth.

Mog

Kupo! Kupo!

RPGLand.com

Don't even sit there and start to preach about it. Just get out. Security?

Mog

(*While being dragged away by security, kicking and screaming*) Kupoooooooo!

So, Cyan, Now that you have basically gotten over your fear of technology and machines, have your party members taught you how to play a video game?

Cyan

A what?

*Interviewer squints*
Gogo: I'm sure you've heard of all the rumors flying around on the internet, that you're actually Daryl in disguise. Is that true? If so, why haven't you revealed yourself to Setzer? Did you know this was going to happen?

Gogo

*Gogo squints*

Oh, right, you're a mimic. I forgot. Sorry.

Gogo

I think that's a sign we need to stop this. Thanks for reading, everyone, and have an excellent April 1st.

Gogo

Thanks for reading, everyone, and have an excellent April 1st. And don't forget to pick up Final Fantasy VI on Game Boy Advance some time in the future! Heck, even now, the cast and I think you'll be very pleased if you get out your copy of Final Fantasy VI (it was called III on the Super Nintendo) and give it another go! Remember your freaking heritage!

:o
The rumors are true....

RPG Land thanks the cast of Final Fantasy VI for taking the time for this interview, and also thanks Yoshitaka Amano for the wonderful character designs he's given us through the years.
