I do, but honestly am not a huge fan of its online component. I'm too lazy to get on AIM for matchmaking, and there's no ingame interface. Boo to Nintendo. I doubt we have tournament numbers anyways, but if we can actually manage to get four+ people together, I'd play a few races if I'm not busy. I don't get nearly enough opportunity to show off my super rad, rabbite icon (which I drew myself, from scratch).

1. Yes. All you need is your router's WEP key. Mine was on a sticker on the bottom of my router - yours may be more difficult to locate so check your manual. If you have the Nintendo wifi thingy it should be even easier. Once you set up the connection for any game, it saves the config to your DS so you just have to pick the same connection for any new wifi game you get. You can have three connections conifgured, so if you take your DS to a hotspot or if you have a friend with wi-fi you can keep those connections saved as well.
2. For MKDS you play by searching for opponents (there's no matchmaker system so you never know who you'll play with until they join your game). You basically tell it to look for random people around the world, and it will just link you up to strangers. If you use the friend connect it searches for people on friend list only, but in order to play with friends they have to be searching for a game at the same time you are - which is where having an external chat program like AIM or IRC would come in handy. It works the same way for Tony Hawk, but that's the only other online game I have. In Animal Crossing I think it only has a friend system (you can't visit someone's town unless you've swapped codes).
3. Four total. Also there's no Battle mode online, only racing, which is pretty lame.

True, but i get fucking sick of blowing up the balloons all the time anyway. It's a neat feature, but get's tiring quick. You should at least start with 3 full balloons, and only have to blow up the replacements. That'd be a lot better.
Usually i'm all about the battle, but now i'm all about the racing. I played online a lot with people from another forum at first, but we all stopped in january. I still play off and on with local friends though. Great game. |
