Wait, wait, wait, we started up these new forums and don't yet have an FFXII thread? Time to put a stop to that nonsense. Let's talk about the news, media, and our own thoughts here, shall we?

New scans have just been posted on Jeux France, from Famitsu magazine. Check them out here:
http://www.jeux-france.com/news12238_final-fantasy-xii-scanne.html

For reference, the Japanese release day is 3-16-06 and no official US one yet, though we know it's coming some time later.

looks good I can't wait....I hope it proves to be worth the wait, but I'm sure it will be because I haven't seen a final fantasy game that's disappointed me yet. Smile

Like most FF games they always change the battle system, I just hope that if they change it (and i'm sure they have) that it is easy to handle.

A quick look at the scans linked there says yes, yes they've indeed changed the battle system insto something new. Also of note, Square said the company would like to "change RPGs" or something lofty like that, with each new FF title. Sounds like they'll be looking deeper and deeper for creative ideas in the future.

..ahem.. FF9.... Very Happy

WELL FOR ME ANYWAYS. Surprised

but yeah this game certainly sparks interest. I heard that the gameplay was going to be like FFXI where everything is on screen like the mobs and you engage in combat right on the same screen, wonder how the new engine will play a role in that area?

lol well they haven't exactly "changed rpgs" with each upcoming title these days so we'll see what the future holds.

Square is a cocky bunch!

Like I said, we'll see what the future holds. I have a hard time believing it though. Square has lacked true innovation for a while.

I did read somewhere, or someone told me that square purposely changes the battle system in its games...out of the FF series I've always loved the FF7 system the most. Materia rocks XD....

As long as the battle system they end up with doesn't suck, more power to them. Final Fantasy needs a bit of a kick in the pants. It's becoming like those anime series that go on endlessly, they just start running out of ideas...

Like when Rurouni Kenshin just randomly introduced magic into a worl dthat didn't have magic. "But no," the characters say, "there is a completely logical explanation!" Yeah, okay... >_>

If you understood my point don't degrade it or belittle it like that okay? :lol Cool some games do share the same sorta battle system like we all know Rolling Eyes

FROM FFINSIDER:

The battle system is said to be like Final Fantasy X-2 plus various new elements. In the battle, you can equip gems in the gem slots (the effects of gems-equipping are not yet to be announced). Some elements from both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XI will be applied to Final Fantasy XII. Also, the party can only consists of up to 3 characters during battle.

hmm looks like they are using the same system sorta....this is good it will be easier to handle.... Very Happy

you know what they need to do in a FF game? Make all characters on screen at the same time. That would be awesome. Like in FF7 when you do the sephiroth fight and your in two teams fighting the back and front of the sephiroth monster jenova thingamajiger....but like instead of 3 at a time your on a full screen with your whole party. Razz

now that would be a different! Surprised

<_<

Yeah, that'd be nifty. *shakes fist at FF7* It took SOO long to transfer to the other party in that part. And just random things seemed to just fill that battle with dead air.
