I figure I should make one of these since discussion is fragmented a bit...but whatever.
Anyway, I'd just like to say the casino is so awesome. The prizes I've gotten are ridiculous. The hero is now doing almost 100 damage every attack and Jessica can hit all enemies for like 70+ damage!!!
It's ridiculous! And I love it! _________________

Well see, I don't doubt that, the thing is Jessica is now doing twice the damage she did before and to more enemies. She's like a friggin' tank. _________________

yeah, I ended up moving her on to a staff so I don't even use the whip anymore. With the staff she has some nice abilities/powerups that help more than the damage she does for my playstyle. 2 mini medals away from 110, woohoo. _________________

So I've heard the game is mighty hard. Would you guys say it's the hardest RPG on PS2? Perhaps the hardest of this generation? _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

hmm tough to say. It has a pretty good difficulty range considering. I did die once actually in a battle that you have to do consecutively but then when you go back you just do the 2nd part so it was simple enough.
Definately a good challenge though especially this dungeon/boss I'm working on now. Like most RPGs though, you level up and you will be alright. The enemies don't get stronger with you.
If I had to I would say it is probably the most difficult RPG that came out this year in terms of length, having to level up (time consuming level ups) and extras. Most puzzles are simple enough though.
I beat it with the hero at level 40 which might be under the norm considering the quote I got but I'm not sure. _________________

I didn't really find much need to "level up" though it is one strategy that can be used. Usually there are alternatives like mucking with the alchemy pot or something. Mindless levelling never really entered the scene. It has a difficulty, but it feels really natural...hard to explain. _________________

the monsters in the dungeon I'm working on are pretty tough for my party so I will be entering mindless leveling soon. I'm sure that was the intention anyway.
I agree though, not alot of time was spent mindless leveling except a few occasions. The fact of the matter is, if you are having difficulty then you level up and that difficulty is gone. Each level up does take some time and that can be annoying. The actual dungeons/towers themselves aren't that complex as a whole.
Have you finished the game yet Owozifa cause things get a bit unpleasant after you finish. _________________

Just beat this at 84 hours and characters around level 50. What's more? It lives on! I love added content after completion of main quests.
Seriously though, RPG of the year and hot behind Shadow of the Colosuss for game of the year. |

Well, I went and reviewed the thing.
Dragon Quest VIII Review
I must say that game was quite an experience, and well worth the time spent. _________________

DQ8 will be my Christmas present. I enjoyed the demo and am very excited about the game. So...how about that prequel, or whatever? Could be interesting... _________________ LiveJournal

You're talking about the port town when you first set out to sea? I remember I had Yangus do Tension a few times then attack while Hero healed. Rince, repeat. It was tough for some reason and honestly I haven't had to use Tension at all since then. Perhaps you should level up too, couldn't hurt. _________________
