My MUST-OWN title for GBA is Harvest Moon: FMT.

Did the title of this thread change? I think I missed something...
Anyways, here's LiQuid!'s definitive list of games everyone should own (just going through my library):
Advance Wars
Advance Wars 2
Astro Boy Omega Factor
Castlevania Circle of the Moon
Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance
Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
Final Fantasy Tactics Adv.
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones
Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
Klonoa Empire of Dreams
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga
Mario Kart Super Circuit
Metal Slug Advance
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission
Pokemon (I prefer Red/Green, but Ruby/Sapphire is good too if a tad bloated)
Puyo Pop
Shining Force Resurrection of the Dark Dragon
Super Mario Advance (2-4)
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
Wario Land 4
Wario Ware Inc.
Wario Ware Twisted
Zelda Minish Cap (and to a lesser extent LttP+4s)
Plus about two dozen honorable mentions that I won't go into...
What a killer handheld system. It's a shame that most of the best games on it are remakes of old classics, but they are just padding an already awesome library. DS looks like it's headed in the right direction, and quite frankly (despite my skepticism) is leaving the PSP in the dust. _________________

*Super Mario Advance (1-4)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) was the friggin' sweet. And the remake was excellent.
Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls
Pretty awesome stuff. _________________

FFTA
FF Dawn of Souls
Tactics Ogre(i actually played this on the original GBA, tilting so i could see under a light)
Golden Sun 1+2( love these games. Can't wait until a DS one surfaces)
Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
Breath of Fire 2(missed this on the SNES)
and Mario Kart is sweet too.
I'm currently playing through Riviera and enjoying it a bit. I only play it in short spurts, so i'm only about half-way through. Great game with some GREAT music, though.
Kingdom Hearts for GBA gets my stinker award. I was SERIOUSLY looking forward to it, and got to the last dungeon and just gave up. I didn't have ANY fun with it. Guess i'll have to wait for KHII.
On a side note, i heard such mixed reviews for Shining Force Resurrection of the Dark Dragon. I never got to play the originals. Is it worth picking up? or should i just try to track down the originals for my genesis? |

Yes, I split it from the FFXII topic.
Anyway:
-Fire Emblem
-Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
-FF: Dawn of Souls
-FFIV & VI remakes (when out)
-Wario Land 4
-Klonoa: Empire of Dreams
-Klonoa: Dream Champ Tournament
-Shining Force: Dark Dragon
-Advance Wars 1&2
-Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

Shining Force gets a thumbs up from me, and I've played the Original. It has it's flaws, but it also has some bonuses the original didn't have, so it evens out. Also, a really, really, really good game most people didn't play is Advance Guardian Heroes. It's a Beat-em-up RPG and is quite frankly the best Beat-em-up I've ever played. Go pick it up. |

Speaking of beat-em-up RPGs, I now have to give a shout out to River City Ransom Ex.

The Guardian Heroes remake was terrible. If there's any justice in the world no one will have experienced that without playing the infinitely superior original on the Saturn. _________________

After going though this thread I realize my GBA library is definitely missing some Kirby action. Which of the two do you folks recommend the most? I only played a little of the SNES one but I remember it was fun. Also, anyone selling Tactics Ogre? I don't trust Ebay GBA games, too many hong kong copies on there. _________________

Nightmare in Dreamland is my favourite of the Two. I was never able to beat Amazing Mirror. I kept getting stuck, which is very non Kirbyesque... _________________

Nightmare in Dreamland definitely.
It's friggin' Kirby's Adventure...only new! That game has TIGHT gameplay and no mistake.
But, you should have both fool. Wait...I haven't beat Amazing Mirror yet either. What the crap!?
Oh, and hopefully you aren't missing Klonoa action. If we're talking platformers...those are awesome. And at the risk of going off topic I wish to plug Klonoa 2 for PS2 as one of the greatest platformers of all time. That is all. _________________

Ok that's two votes for Dreamland. I'll try to pick that up. As for Klonoa 2, I played the demo on the PS2 awhile back. Was neat. _________________

all klonoa games have rrocked ass so far... i haven't played the PSX and PS2 versions so much but i played both GBA games and they were both hardfriggingcore. I liked the first one (empire of dreams) more than the sequel but they are both stellar fucking games. anyone with a GBA please dont neglect them! _________________

I want to throw the Megaman Battlenetwork games out there. They aren't among the best RPGs ever, but I had a lot of fun playing both 3 and 4, and though I've heard both 2 and 5 were good I've not gotten them yet. I agree that FFTA and TO:KoL are both kickass portable stratrpgs...
Also, while of course they are ports, the fact that Breath of Fire 1&2 were released on GBA is also a bonus, though I've never actually found the first one, the second game was really fun. _________________ Xyzzy...
