How is the music and sound below average? I mean, the sound itself I can see, but this game continues to have one of my favorite sound tracks. |

You have to add up the values of every number in "great" and divide it by 10, then multiply that by pi.
Yeah, I dunno. I have no idea why we should even have that /10 under there if we're going to just start using words. Doesn't make sense at all, especially since we don't even have 10 different words that we use. It'd be /6 or /7 or something. |

Nah we decided to leave it there for a few reasons, mostly because it's hilarious. |

Good review (thanks especially for keeping that ZOMG Ramza's voice suX0Rz crap out of it), though I didn't think the game was all that great to begin with (I'm going through the PSX version again). I don't know, I'm just not the kind of person who can tolerate things like spending an eternity on losing battles, annoying random encounters, being unable to undo movement, and so forth. I'll take the Shining Force games, Growlanser series, Disgaea, and Suikoden Tactics any day, thanks. _________________ LiveJournal

I probably should have mentioned that in the review, that if Square was going to modify other stuff, it should have fixed other problems like not being able to undo movement, not being able to check turn order for the Jump skill, and not being able to make O my command button. Good point.
And for people who've already cleared the game, an unlockable "JP never go down" mode. After my 2nd or third time through the PS version, I played like that with a gameshark and wow. It was fun to get stuff like, amazingly fast. Not the real "full" experience per se, but it was a neat change. _________________ If you buy stuff from Play Asia, help support RPG Land. Thank you. |

I don't see the issue with the voice overs. Sure they don't match what I imagined them sounding like, but overall its pretty well done voice acting, especially for videa games. I was also surprised with how many of the nice films there are. _________________

I got an email about this just now:
Quote: | In your review of the PSP port of War of the Lions you note that the sound quality suffers. I have noticed that most sound from the PSP and the DS sound much better when using quality headphones, you shouldn't say that a games sound quality is low when it's really the speakers fault, as I find that I like the music. Besides, War of the Lions is only a port, it's supposed to bring an older game back from the past for younger gamers to enjoy, they're not going to create an entirely new musical score of higher quality especially when they want it to have at least a little bit of nostalgia. |
I responded:
Quote: | Being a port isn't an excuse for skipping sounds, sounds being out of sync with on-screen motions, and things just plain not sounding right. |
He wasn't a dick so eh, neither was I.
This email reminded me there's an RPG website buried somewhere in this forum. |
