I was thinking about trying Vanguard but the fact that it's made by EQ people puts me off.
I don't know, Age of Conan has me the most hyped. _________________

From the word of mouth I heard that game is horrible. There is a thread about it on SA. It has a lot of replies but a horrible vote rating. |
Yeah, I saw that thread. It's hard to take it seriously, though, when the majority of the hate on the game is "It's being made by SOE despite originally being billed as independent, and since SOE didn't make WOW you know it's going to suck. :/"
A 17GB download turns me off though. |

It's more the team behind than the company but if you've noticed SOE doesn't have a good MMORPG track record at least for my tastes. _________________

I think it's safe to say that SOE's ability to adapt to its target demographic's tastes is less than par, but I also think it's safe to say they do a decent job of creating believable fantasy worlds. But yeah, Vanguard is going to be an interesting game and I can't wait to see if it meets up to the trainwreck hype that surrounds it. A lot of people didn't like Stormreach when it was in Beta and I enjoyed it, so... we'll see. |

The only thing SOE is involved in Vanguard is they're providing the server and after launch support. They are not themselves developing the game. _________________

No matter. The fact that Age of Conan is featuring real time combat makes it better than Vanguard.
None of the targeting and status bar crap. I want an MMORPG where I can aim my fireball spell or aim where I want to hit them.
Kind of like the gameplay in Mount & Blade. If you are turning to your left as you are swinging from the right you do more damage. Games can be unrealistic in general but being realistic in physics makes it 10 times better than a random critical hit. _________________

Idin those have already been made and 100% of them suck. I'm more interested in a hybrid type system like DDO.
To be honest the MMO that has me the most pumped for this year currently is Warhammer Online. I'm also intrigued by Tabula Rasa. Now don't get me wrong I will be watching Conan very closely, I'm just not sold on the idea yet. Reminds me too much of Risk Your Life (RYL) _________________

Snax, for one thing, when you get trapped in the "cage" of hands, attack the hands and the box will break open. ALSO, make sure, no matter how many times you have to fight him, NEVER EVER skip the conversation. Do that and beat him, and you activate a deadly glitch that makes you have to entirely restart the game. |

I've been playing quite a bit of COD3 online these days. The online play is quite good and up to 24 players. I've been playing a lot of the Heavy Assault class (probably 360 of my 395 kills are from Heavy Assault). I like the German's version of Heavy Assault better though. The MP44 is much more versatile than the BAR imo. _________________

Do you mean the cage where he's still spinning the scyth around or do you mean when he grabs you?
And thanks for the heads up. I've been skipping the conversation everytime lately since I just keep dying. _________________

Actually, BOTH of those times. Enough damage and the "cage" opens up, and enough damage, and the hands let go of the caught character before Death can slice 'em open. Good Luck! _________________ As can be seen, witty is not my strong suit. |
