I heard the battles were a lot faster this time around, and I'll likely pick this one up.

The battles ARE a lot faster. The transition from map to battle is INSTANT, the battles are fast paced(quick animations that happen directly after commands), but still retain some of the stragetic elements.
The graphics are beautiful, the music is decent, I'm loving it so far.

Shion is still a f---ing lame ass whiner. I was hoping she'd get better as the games went on. But she hasn't. Oh well. The game is still fun.

The story is good, as always, but I can't get over how fast-paced and fun the battle is. It's in sharp contrast to Episode II in terms of entertainment, and contrasts Episode I in terms of battle speed.

I played the hell out of it today, and plan to keep doing it throughout the weekend. Definately shaping up to be the best in the series.

Oh yeah, anyone else notice the striking similarities between Mai from this game and Maria Balthasar from Xenogears? Obviously the looks, but also the story and description of the character. Right down to having a mech created by her father, who is missing, but she still believes is alive. (There's more too)

They definately are more bold with their allusions to Xenogears in this game, too. I guess they are a bit more bold since this is the last chapter.

Yeah, it definitely rivals, if not surpasses, Xenogears thus far.

XIII is great so far, but it doesn't touch Xenogears.

Hmm, to be honest, I sort of prefer the battle system in Episode 2 as far as entertainment goes. It's nice that the battles are MUCH shorter; but I greatly miss a lot of the stragetic and indepth aspects of Episode 2's battle system. Especially the combos, etc.
